About the Author

Welcome to the Early Christian Religion website! I am Robert Oerter, Associate Professor of physics at George Mason University and author of The Theory of Almost Everything: The Standard Model, the Unsung Triumph of Modern Physics.

Of course, early Christianity is slightly out of my area of expertise - OK, a tad more than slightly - actually, majorly out of my area of expertise. It is a subject I have been studying passionately for years. I read more than 150 books while researching these essays, many of which you will find in the bibliography. Not enough to make me an expert, but enough to give me a good idea of the range of opinions among the true experts in the field. I present the best of that research here for anyone who might not already be familiar with this fascinating period of history.
